Measurement by independent lab?
« on: 9 Sep 2006, 03:36 pm »
Hi, I am very interested in the 8th nerve products.  However, I am a little wary because there are no actual measurement results performed by an independent lab.  Does the company have any plans in doing so?  I would think that having these measurements would be a great marketing tool and help to satisfy doubters or people who are on the fence (like me).  Thank you...

We have been on the lookout for a facility that can do before and after measurements of our products.  Because of the nature of our products, simply testing the absorption of the pieces is entirely irrelevant.  The only true measurement of the product's performance is measurements taken with and without treatment in place.  As soon as we find an independant facility that will allow us to install a room's worth of product (and doesn't cost three months operating expenses) we'll get some independant data.

Dude. . . You get your money back if you don't like them.  You should do your own independant tests, like I did.  Nothing to lose.

Dude..thanks for the reply but i would prefer to make an educated buying decision before going through the hassel of buying, installing, uninstalling, and returning anything.  Thanks though....

I don't know if this helps, tboooe, but the Adapt products are a snap to install.  I was really surprised at how easy & fast it was.  As I said in my mini review, I'm not equipt to measure my room at this moment but the improvement from just the Corners was surprising.  Terms like "not subtle" and "night and day difference" get thrown around a lot online, but in this case they are really warranted. :)

My favorite term to describe what these do is "eerie".  That was the first thing that came to mind when I started hearing things that were not subtle, but I had never heard before, even in hundreds of listening hours with certain discs.

You guys have "almost" convinced me to take the three Adept rectangles out of their box and install them.

There tests are about $600.00 per test. Might be your best bet for testing.
Let me know if you need any help at all.

Rob and Hantra, do or did you have any other accoustic products on the walls before the Adapts?  Are you guys using just corners or seams, etc too?

My problem is that I have two doors in the front corners of my room right AT the corner  :(   make that three corners with doors.

I had the less expensive 8N stuff on the wall immediately before.  Before that, I had several grand worth of PZC's.  Each step has been a remarkable improvement.

I have a door like yours too, and I use the cheaper 8N treatment there b/c it's more pliable.  Works fine as far as my ears can tell. . .

I didn't Max.  I just moved into this house a few months ago- basically I'm starting from scratch.  I have a very very similar layout to the one you describe (house builders must not generally be audiophools!) with 3 corners.  Since my package included 4 of them, I place one in a wall/floor junction.  I was a bit skeptical before I tried them but I was amazed with the results.  My room is literally several times better than it was before.  As of now those 4 Adapts are the only treatments I have, but I'm strongly considering buying a bunch of Response seams and hanging 7 of them up.  I'd like to get Adapt rectangles but I'm so cheap that the $1400 is giving me pause.  It would probably be worth it if I could get my wallet pried open.

Hantra, what are PZC's?  :icon_lol:
Rob, just bet against the Packers and you'll have your money by next month.

PZC's are these ghetto room treatments that cost 3-4x what Nathan's cost, look 3-4x worse, and work about 3-4% as well.
