Fair question. By USB DAC I mean something like the Wavelength Audio Brick, which I have but have not used in a while because of my current system configuration. Personally, I'm a fan of the zero sampleing DACs. But in the realm of PC-based audio one needs to weigh sound quality and usability factors (since there are so many interface options). For the time being I would keep my redbook system alongside the PC component so sound quality is not as high a priority as if it was the only source.

The wireless capability would be useful because then I could keep the laptop elsewhere and away from my highly mobile baby's hands and keep the Transporter locked in the audio cabinet. That is a compelling argument in its favor. But it does introduce another layer over the USB out to DAC.

If using Slimserver on the Mac does using the Transporter automatically wake up the Mac if it is asleep? Or do you first have to wake up the Mac then start using the Transporter?
