The Swans use the Hi Vi drivers correct?

How do the Modwright Swans sound.  Any comparisons you've made?........

The Swans are made by HiVi Research or one of their subsidiaries.   I had them for four months before sending them to Danny Boy.  He kept them for almost three months till he got them dialed in.  I believe the Modwright Swans to be up there with any $5-6K pair of monitors.

After the mod, the speaker's efficiency increased by about 2 dB, bass went down (-3 dB) to 40-45 Hz >>> stunning for a 4" woofer!  The midrange weirdness the stock Swans have was completely gone after the mod and the Bybees do help with smoothness.  It is an amazing little speaker and I have no need to upgrade.  The Modwright Swans is extremely revealling and musical loudspeaker yet it is not ruthlessly revealling like, for example, the B & W and their look alikes.  It is non fatiguing and they can successfully play any kind of music: classical, alternative rock, jazz, acoustic music, salsa, you name it...

I know Rick Reimer uses Hi Vi drivers in his speakers.  He says that they are some of the best performing drivers he's come across and uses them in his most advanced models which have won Best Sound in Show.  Rick's choice in drivers means a lot (to me anyways) as he's an up-and-coming audio genius.  (Ya, I know, I know...the crossover is where it's at).

Does Modwright offer a 30 day return guaranty?

Swans says it is a 5" driver. Look here:
http://www.swanspeaker.com/products/system/new/swansm1.htm

And if I'm not mistaken, Jon Lane (of Audio Insider..current seller of Swans and the M1) has said it was a 5.25" driver. I can't say I have a pair of M1's to measure right now, but might be able to get a friend to check.

That you're a crack smoker, you should be renamed Psychoanimal, and taken for a public flogging

On the serious side, the difference between a 4" and 5 or 5.25" driver, especially when discussing bass, is rather large. Do you want companies to start saying their 8" drivers are 10", or vice versa? :o

Back to mini-monitors, I have a news flash!!! :drums:

Dan Wright has been offered that his modifications to the Swans M1 mini-monitor (of which I own a pair) will not void the manufacturer's warranty.  If Dan so chooses, he will be able to sell them directly from the importer to his customers.  This is in the negotiating phase, but I've been given authorization to tell the *educated* general public about this development.

The Modwright Swans M1 is an outstanding speaker.  I'm keeping mine for a long long time...

Is Dan doing mods to the crossover in the speaker? I didn't see anything on the Modwright site saying what mods were made to the speaker...

Search the archives in Harmonic Discord and Audiogon.  You will find exactly what the mod is about.  Pretty impressive, let me tell you.  Lak has heard my modded Swans and just got a pair on an Audiogon auction.  He is having the speakers shipped directly to Modwright.

Decided to get the ProAc tablette 2000.  Now I'm $900 poorer, but the smell I got when I unpacked them was quite nice  ^_^
