It will be interesting to see what the modders (Vinnie, Wayne, etc,) come up with to improve this unit.  :)

I bet that Slim Devices took a lot of the feedback from Vinnie, Wayne, et al in designing this product...so yes, it'll be interesting to see if these guys come up with even further improvements (I guess battery power will be the first thing...)

Phil,

I think you missed the sarcasm in my comment.  :)

I doubt that there's much/any improvement to be had from this unit by applying the typical modders playbook.  I'm fairly convinced that Sean Adams has considerably more engineering prowess and prioritization capability than anyone who might try.

I think that price is right were it should be.....high enough to validate its membership in the nose-in-the-air audiophile snob world....high enough to keep low-life DIY-based, audiophiles like some of us out....and low enough so that the people in between will probably go for it.  I predict the sales will be good.

Cheers,

Davey.

Knowing the modders, I'm pretty sure there will be many attempts...

What has really impressed me about Sean is the way he communicates on the Slimdevices forum, getting feedback and information from various audiophiles and (apparently) applying those things to this new product.  I'm not so sure that he was familiar with a lot of the topics that audiophile engineers are concerned about, but looking at the specs, it certainly looks like he took the feedback pretty seriously... 8)

It's too bad it uses a switching power supply.  I don't like those nasty things near audio equipment.

According to the Slim Devices site, it doesn't.  It's supposedly multiple linear power supplies.
