« on: 23 Jul 2006, 01:45 am »
Hello all, I have a large Bay window in my livingroom & the streat I live on is a bit noisy with trafic
Can anyone recomend any soundproof curtains ? I know they wont block out all outside noise but something to  dampen the outside noise would be great
Oh yea it has to look nice also ~
Thanks

The only thing (I've found) even close to what you're talking about is hotel curtains or theater curtains.  Both are availble used on the web somewhere.

I'm in the process of constructing a curtain... This custom curtain will have a rigid fiberglass panel inside.... Photos to come....

I use heavy black velvet curtains and Eighth Nerve Response room treatments.

Don't know if this is an option, but full height (floor to ceiling) high density wooden framed high density fiberglass panels covered in your favorite silk screened material that could slide tight against the offending window and open like rolling barn doors could be quite looksome and effective.

Not sure how effective curtains or drapes could ever be.

I use them, Antman27.  The reason I got them is that they work incredibly well to block light.  They do perhaps make the room a tad quieter, but it's hard to tell as I don't live in a very noisy neighborhood.  I'm rarely home much in the day when things might be noisier.
