Dennis, a filter in the preamp won't protect the tweeter from garbage generated by the amplifier, especially a class D switching amplifier.  Would it be difficult to try on one speaker of a pair and A-B for any useful difference?

Hi    You be the man on amplifiers, and if you think there's a potential problem that can only be handled after the amp stage, then I would certainly be willing to design an experiment. Let me study the HT3 crossover a little and see what I can come up with.
