Steve,Going fishing this weekend reminds me that I have one of these for a trolling motor. Can I just charge it up and use it to power Off Ramp? If I just cut the transformer off the stock PS unit, does it matter which wire goes to which terminal?

The outer contact should be minus and the inside contact is plus.Steve N.

It would be good to keep the wire from the battery short or solder a low impedance electrolytic across + and - right near the plug to the Off-Ramp. I like to use 3300-4700 uFd at 25V.Steve N.

Do you mean that I should solder on a coupling cap of the value you specified between the wires at the off ramp end?
Steve,Vishay/Sprague, Nichcon, Panasonic, BC component and more. Is there a particular brand that is better suited for this task?
