I received the Mills Sand Box and Amp stand several days ago. I expected to receive an isolation platform with the sand already inside, however, after opening the package, I realized I had to add the sand myself. Since I already had sand left over from filling my Mye Stands, I was ready to add the sand. The directions required me to construct a screed from cardboard to level 3/4 inches of the sand. This turned-out to be a arduous task since I didn't expect it. After about thirty minutes of back and forth and adding and subtracting sand, the sand was finally level. After leveling the sand inside the platform box, I had to create a sling out of thread to load the top platform over the sand. I also had to screw-on the supplied spiked feet. The spiked feet are an extra $20.00. After about an hour of prep time and 15minutes cleaning up sand, I was ready to set the platform on my audio rack.
This damn thing looks nice. It better work damn good after all the prep work! Well, I was immediately relieved once I pressed play on my CD player. It works! For now I can tell you that the focus of the player improved and the background was more silent. I'll need to spend more time with the Sand Box to give a more detailed impressions.
