Heat Imbalance
« on: 12 Jun 2006, 04:20 pm »
Hi all,

I've been reading this forum since I've got my 4B ST, the first Bryston amp I owned. I really learnt a lot from James and all you guys' contributions. Thank you indeed!

This is my very first message here. The reason why I open a topic is that I found my newly acquired used 14B ST seems to perform strangely. Its right heat sink is obviously warmer than the left! I guess this is not normal... FYI, the amp has been disconnected from power completey for about 1.5 days at the seller's home. Then, I turned it on after bringing it to my home. After playing music for about 1 hour, I found the heat imbalance. :(

I've sent the previous owner and also James an email about this privately. I'm just wondering if you guys have experienced the same thing or have any ideas of what happen in my case.

Hope to receive your responses soon.

Welcome.  My 14BSST gets hotter on one side than the other.  The measurements show 4W difference between the 2 channels and I'd imagine there might be other slight differences too.
