Most importantly, I offer my sincerest condolences to him and his family. As a parent, I can't imagine anything worse than to lose one of my children, and we can barely imagine what he must be going through right now.
I hope more people will join me in asking our state legislators to enact legislation that makes cimes like this - where a drunk driver kills someone - an intent-based crime (2d or 3rd degree murder) rather than the lesser-included offense of manslaughter. In the alternative, make vehicular manslaughter statutes carry a penalty harsher than any other form of manslaughter. Clearly the current penalties are not harsh enough to stop people from drinking and driving.
