Possible to add a digital out?

Hi Folks,
I have an old Rotel CD carousel RCD 940AX (I believe). It does not have a digital out. I was wondering if it is possible (worth the effort) to modify the unit giving it a good quality digital out and then use the unit as a transport to a DAC?

What do you think? Would a carousel make a good transport? Or should I sell it (probably only get $100 or so) and put my money toward a better transport?

Just that the thing still works great so I hate to let it go for little $$$. Really only use it anymore for background music during parties...otherwise use Arcam DV78 for CD.

It can be done but it costs $385 from here.....

I would say that it really is not cost effective.

$385 seems steep. Agree that it's not cost justified with this player.
