Another way my system brings me joy...

I just spent the past hour watching my 4 1/2 yr old son dancing/enjoying whatever music I played for him.   :singing:  :singing:

As much as I enjoy listening by myself and getting emersed in the music, I think I get even more pleasure watching both of my boys dance and get into the music.

Hopefully their enjoyment isn't a stage in their lives and will continue on for years and years...

BTW, here is some of the music I played:

Nirvana - Nevermind
Johnny Cash - At Folsom Prison
Grateful Dead - Dick's Picks Vol 14
Natalie Merchant - Tigerliliy
Roland Kirk - Domino
Mad Season - Above
Wilco - A Ghost is Born

George,

I know the feeling. I've been meaning to videotape my 2 year old dancing for months. It's hysterical. My older ones still dance at times but they've become slightly self conscious and it's not the same.

my daughter (almost 4yrs) was huge into "Dancing with the Stars".  She actually comes into my listening room now if I'm listening to classical or latin jazz and makes me ballroom-dance with her (ie. I pick her up and we spin around as she dips her head back with one arm outstretched...).  Makes my heart melt...!

Geeze!!!
You guys are talking about your young children. My great grand daughter is 4.5 months old.
 Can anybody top that?

                                Cheers

When my oldest son was just a baby, I used to hold him in my arm and we would 'groove' to the sound coming out of my stacked Advents.

When he could walk, he'd 'groove' on his own. (always wanted me to "make it louder"... )

Today, he's about to finish his second Master's degree in music (while teaching) and is headed to the UK to do a workshop at Cambridge.. :o ..

My second oldest is a drummer... :drums:

I say, "start 'em young"  :)

(my daughter who's 23; and my grand-daughter who's 4- seem to like music too... :inlove: , so it's my fault, I guess)

My three year old son insists that I take out the tennis racket so that he can play guitar along with Stevie Ray Vaughn.  He puts a huge smile on my face every time he demands to hear Hammerhead over and over (that's the second track on "Free for All" by Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers).  And most recently, he's become passionate about "the dinosaur song" (aka "Walking in you Footsteps" on Synchronicity, by The Police).

But this is also the kid who asks me to sing him to sleep with "Stairway to Heaven."
