It's a Fountek ribbon tweeter.

The Scan-Speak is simply the best 7" woofer I've ever used with this ribbon tweeter. The upper end response of the woofer is very smooth and yet it has great bass extension and dynamic capability. That's very difficult to achieve and a testimony to the level of engineering in the woofer. For that reason it's much more expensive than the Seas Excel woofer.

How does the fountek compare the aurum cantus g2si that seems to be popular these days?  I notice the fountek doesn't have quite the extension to 40k that the Aurum Cantus says it does.

We build everything to order so in a sense everything is "custom". If it suits what someone is looking for (price, cabinet size, etc.) then it's the best 7" 2-way I can offer. Having too many featured models can confuse people so I may not add a page to my site.

The G2 / G2SI / Fountek all perform very similar. I prefer the Fountek because they switched to a more reliable ribbon element that doesn't need to be covered during shipping like the Aurum Cantus ribbons.

As pictured with the black lacquer cabinet it's $1,295 / pair (including shipping).

Damn! (paradoxically a very high compliment)

Is this the only speaker you have which is front ported?  I didn't see any other front ported models on your web site.  My partner has a massage room in the house and I can't get the rear ported Paradigm monitors to balance across the freq band correctly.  It's in a bedroom and there are no doors for the closet and by necessity one speaker is located there and the other has to be in a room corner.  Hence the rear acoustics are very different.  I'm looking for something which solves that problem and also gives an awesome low listening level experience for her clients.  I am thinking that getting into a ribbon tweeter will do this.  This speaker looks like just the ticket.

Re: finish, is this a premium finish and what other's are available?

Sorry, for the newbie questions I haven't been in the Selah Audio section before.

It is absolutely beautiful. Can the speaker be wall mounted? If someone wanted it for a HT, do you think it would be best to get all the same?

Contact Rick directly and he can build and offer you a customized speaker of choice...(no/front/rear ported design or ribbons/cones/icecreams any driver)..

Cheers,
Kishore

The rear mounting of the port is mostly cosmetic. Since the cabinets come to us finished from the factory I chose to place the port on the front. That way we avoided possibly scratching the high gloss finish. The other finishes are a natural beech (similar to maple) and a stained birch that looks like a typical Queen Anne cherry finish. Custom veneers are available for an additional cost.

You could wall mount it but it's fairly large (22" x 9" x 13"). If all five are placed upright then you would have an excellent HT system.

Hi Rick,

Does Scan Speak make an 8" version of that driver?
If so, do you think it would mate well with the Neo3 in a MTM?

Thanks

No 8" version is available. Why not do a MTM with the 7" and Neo3?

Sadly, they dont.

A Peerless PPB 830868 would be ideal for an 8" mtm
