Son destroyed my old Polk Audio 10b Monitors.  Bought new Martin Logan Clarity speakers, but they lack the definition and presence that I heard in the store connected to a Naim amp when played through my old, stock Hafler DH200 amp.  Am now shopping for a new amp and would like suggestions -- particularly from those with the same speakers (or experience with them).  Currently am looking at Naim, NuForce, Arcam, (possible rebuild of Hafler?).  Suggestions Please.

One of the best amps for electrostatics is the Innersound ESL amps. I use Vmps speakers and it's the most natural sounding SS amp I've heard. No transistory sound what so ever.  Also the amp was designed to handle the extremely tough load that electrostatics are to power amplifiers. They are unfortunatley rare on Audiogon used however.

The main thing you need to make sure of is that your amp can handle the capacitive load of your Logans.  You should look for an amp that at least comes close to doubling it's power into 4 ohms. This should give you the best sound as the amp won't be straining trying to drive them. An old Classe amp would be a good idea too. Good Luck

Thanks for the reply.  For the sake of this novice, would you please tell me what "PRAT" is? Also, is "PP" the brand name of the tube amp you suggest?
Lastly, I'm a little concerned by the description that you gave that the Naim is "notorious" for ...   To me the word notorious implies widely known for a bad thing -- is this right?

PRaT = pacing, rhythm and timing.....nothing bad there.

PP = Push/Pull....for tubes. [/list:u]
