sidenote - Azon seems to have gotten a batch of bad mfg on this disk. First one I recv'd would not play in either player (Sony vert carousel, Denon horiz 5 disc), the replacement I was just listening to would not play in the Sony, and just now failed at cut 7 in the Denon. For the moment anyway I'd recommend a different source. The center spindle holes are improperly finished. A shame as it sounds pretty good otherwise. Now the fun of a second return.

Their string of release from 72 to 76 were all great (Below the Salt, Parcel of Rogues, All Around My Hat (maybe the weakest of the group, but some high moments), Now We Are Six, Commoners Crown, Rocket Cottage) . I think Below the Salt may have been the best, but ask me next week and I'll probably have a different choice.

I whole heartedly agree, particularly re All Around My Hat. I also like Hark ! The Village Wait, and Ten Man Mop or Mr. Reservoir Butler's Rides Again of the earlier works, and Please to See the King , Storm Force Ten of the later stuff. While not one of their best reviewed there's a lot of fun toe tapping in Tempted & Tried, though it's a good ways from their original mostly folk based works. Lots of great music in your library sir, keep 'em coming.

Allthough there is a bit of variation in the various releases over the years, I find them ALL great! I'm not sure, there can't be many of them I don't have. One of these days I have to check against their discography, but put it this way -- I have a whole BINDER full of Steeleye, Maggie Prior, and various incarnations of the several musicians in the core band!

Used to go hear them live whenever they were in the States, but I think they must have gotten P.O.'d at us, as they haven't played here in a long time, even though they still tour in Europe and occasionally Oz.
