Maybe the Sat...but not for me, I only buy complete albums in its physical form...I like to touch stuff...touchy feely kinda vibe thing. I think I have that cd, but haven't gotten around to playin' it...its ;lumped in there somewhere with another 3-400 cds yet to see the light of the laser.I have been to the Iridium only once...not my kinda venue, but who knows...I hear they remodeled the place a few years back...so maybe its all kosher now...By the bye...I like when the Pharoah squeals...reminds me of a dying chicken.
Likewise Martin, I only buy albums too. Of the 7 Kenny Garrett albums I have, Live At The Iridium isn't one of them nor have I ever heard of it. Sorry Jim. Cheers,Robin
The Cardigans - Long Gone Before Daylight, CD
I stand corrected Jim, I do have that album but the correct title is Sketches of MD: Live at the Iridium (2008) Good jazz Jim. Samples Cheers,Robin
Recorded when the Art Ensemble of Chicago was in Paris and between drummers (Don Moye would not join up until 1970), this English imported LP has a continuous piece featuring trumpeter Lester Bowie, reed players Roscoe Mitchell and Joseph Jarman and bassist Malachi Favors all playing plenty of "little instruments" (which include various horns, gongs, logs, bells, sirens, whistles, steel drums, marimba, and banjo, among others) in addition to their mainstays. The episodic music continually holds one's interest, and overall, it makes a unified (if unpredictable) statement.
