Alan Holdsworth and King Crimson! Now there's some good taste.

More avante-garde progressive for me today.

Universe Zero - Clivages

Not quite as dark and foreboding as some of their previous releases, but still quite spine tingling. This is not one for the faint of heart.

Live from Bonnaroo 2004.  A DVD in my case.  Outstanding artists and tracks for me include:

Gillian Welch- Caleb Meyer.  Folk with passion (I could dig some more of her);

Damien Rice and Lisa Hannigan- Volcano*.  Real nice drummerless ensemble with cello.  Beautifully done number (I'm headed to Amazon);

Gov't Mule- Blind Man in the Dark.  Damn!.  These guys just get it ON is all!  Real good players of their instruments.  Big boy sings well, too.

Primus- My Friend Fats.  Art rock that rocks;

Femi Kuti- Truth Don't Die.  West African jump street;

Antigone Rising- Push it.  Balls to the wall femmes;

Taj Majal- Linda Lu.  You know . . they call my baby Patti but her real name is Linda Lu.  Excellent.

Whole bunch of other independent artists on this.  Some of the above might can be seen on YouTube.  Hope so.

*Checked this out on YouTube later.  Works much better drummerless at Bonnaroo.

The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway is one of my all time favorite progressive albums, but this CD bored the hell out of me. I'm also a fan and a friend of Nick's, so it was doubly hard for me not to like this.

But then I saw Nick D'Virgilio (and a great band) perform this live and the experience was unbelievably great!

Looks like I'll have to revisit the CD...

I have this.  Very talented song writer and at using her instrument, IMO.  Chick has guts and my admiration.  Cheers

Saw her live at the Gorge about 8 years ago with Matchbox 20. Incredible vocal range across several octives.

I Don't Need No Doctor

I heard this song one night on an FM radio station in Columbia MO almost 40 years ago and went out the next day and bought the album. I Don't Need No Doctor is one of the most kick-ass rock songs I have ever heard.
