Like the late Shirley Horn, another fine singer-pianist, Barber never rushes, often floating over and behind the beat, slowing it down or half-timing it; on "Just One of Those Things" she lags the beat, while Potter and the band swing out, her voice insinuatingly sultry to the point of exhaling the title phrase and stretching of the "ings" in "things."

Kenny Garrett, sketches of MD: live at the Iridium.Recorded live at the Iridium...My 'feeling' is that Pharoah Sanders elevated the album from 'quite good' to 'very good' status. I heard a lot of Kenny in the latter 80's into the 90's, so I am very familiar with his 'sound'. Like her or leave her...she sure knows how to caress a tune. I like just about every album I have of hers, this is her 10th, I probably have about 5 or 6. She is consistent. http://www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=7731201
