Chuck Brown & Eva Cassidy - The Other Side

samples

Finally gave this a listen, I've always read all the glowing posts about Eva Cassidy, but never gave it a try, as it isn't a style I usually listen to. Didn't realize she was paired with Chuck Brown the Godfather of Go-Go music, which probably doesn't mean much to people outside of the DC area, where go-go is huge. A really nice contrast/synergy between the two, very nice album.

Starflyer 59 - Gold (Giving this a try based on Slushpuppy's comparison of them to a Swervedriver meets Nirvana hybrid - good album, might take a few listens to pay attention to the low key breathy vocals, right now I'm enjoying the guitar breaks more - another good find.)

Hi Jim,

I'm glad you like it. I still think "Silver" has my favorite set of songs, but I think that's because that's the first album by them I bought. First impressions, ya know. Robins choice of "My Island" is good too. It's a bit different, but it's also 10 years later than Gold/Silver.

The wine is kicking in and things are getting a little rowdier. Now playing Sea Level (on vinyl still)... saw these guys live back in my college days. What an amazing group of musicians. Chuck Leavell (from Allman Brothers fame on Brothers and Sisters) is now the 5th Rolling Stone. In my opinion that was a true waste of his talents, but I'm sure he's made a ton of bucks playing those gigs.
