Didn't think I would like this one, I did quite a bit.  Paul Simon's Graceland meets They Might be Giants.  Maybe not even that.  But it's got that brainy TMBG's feel.

No comment, we all know how good this one is.

Sonics are average, or just below average. Otherwise a good mix of funky Afro rhythms.

Buddy Guy, skin deep

BG latest release.

At 71, his brilliance as a guitarist remains undiminished as he elicits tones so ferocious they sound like he’s manhandling six industrial power lines rather than playing a portable instrument.

Wow... this guy has been around a long time, I remember hearing Sunny way back in the 60's. Soulful R&B.

Listening to the 'acoustic sessions'...
Quote
"Nine Heavens" features nine intricately carved original arrangements and compositions of traditional folk songs and mystical Sufi poems from Iran, the Indian sub-continent and Turkey. With a strong emphasis on composition, Niyaz centers on the deep interconnectedness between the music of Iran, India and Turkey, and delves further into the traditional melodies of these regions with outstanding performances by its core members as well as guest musicians of the highest caliber from these three traditions...the acoustic versions reflect the songwriting talents and mystical leanings that Azam and Loga bring; then the "final" versions showcase the organic way Carmen's electronics fit both the rhythms and the mood of these deeply-rooted works.

Just got this on vinyl....very interesting....not sure if I like it yet...I could do w/o the socialist politics, but the music is eclectic.

Where's Gordy been lately?  He's a major fan of Azam Ali.  Turned me onto Feast of Silence in one of her incarnations, YAS (girl gets around).  Guess I'll be checking this one out.

Johnny  Cash, John Prine, John Denver, John Hiatt, that's a lot of Johns. If you want to check how your system recreates male vocals, this is a good sampler. Great songs, great performances.
