A classic album from the mid 60's...

And the 'forgotten' daughter...Lisa Celeste aka Simone debut album.

Nice salute to the songs her mother covered...does them her way. More R&B than the bluesy/jazzy way of her mother. Her mother, Nina introduces and accompanies her (on piano) on the first track, music for lovers, circa 1999

The trouble I have with her youtube performance is that she is sing a down n' dirty blues cabaret style. Get up there and belt it Honey! I want to hear that pain; I want to close my eyes and feel you channeling Janis Joplin.

All that being said, I totally "get" her and am ordering one of her CD's from CD Baby (A Great Site) Thanks for allowing me to discover another singer I would have never found on my own.

Glad you like her.

I had the pleasure of seeing Joplin at the New Orleans Pop Festival about a year after Woodstock.
I doubt there'll ever be another.
