I just tore the shrink wrap from a first pressing of:

Frank Sinatra - I Remember Tommy

If you haven't heard this record imagine the songs that the Tommy Dorsey
Orchestra used to play in the 1940s with Sinatra's seasoned voice in the early
1960s. One his very best albums on Reprise. Highly recommended.

Of course, if you can't settle for Frank Sinatra remembering Tommy Dorsey there's always Sinatra singing with the Dorsey Orchestra.

Frank Sinatra - The Sinatra/Dorsey Sessions, Volume 2

It's great to compare some of these sides from the early 1940's with the remakes
he did over 20 years later for Reprise. The complete sessions was issued on LP
in 1982 on RCA in three double-LP sets. I was fortunate enough to find
all three still in shrink wrap on eBay for $24 for the three volume set. Great
stuff.

Peggy Lee & George Shearing - Beauty and the Beat!

I had the good fortune recently of buying a slew of vintage Peggy Lee
vinyl pressings on Capitol Records. This one ranks among my favorites.
She is paired with the great George Shearing as an accompanyist. There's
an interesting story about this record. It was billed as a live recording,
but in fact all of the songs were recorded in the studio, and the stage
banter and applause was overdubbed. Personally, I really don't care
about all that. My focus is on the music. The lineup of songs
presented here is fantastic and the performances are superb. This
is arguably Peggy Lee's best album on Capitol.
