A 45rpm single, Pledging My Love by Johnny Ace, about 10 times. Saw the movie The Bad Lieutenent on cable the other night and this song was heavily featured. I knew it was a big hit for the lad (way, way back) and I've loved it from when I was too young to know why but was surprised that it showed up in a downtown movie about a New York policeman (Harvey Keitel). This song is most likely the least embellished, most straight ahead piece of work you've ever heard. It aims straight for the heart. Sad, honest, beautiful, unsurpassed.
