Wynton Marsalis - "Uptown Ruler (Soul Gestures in Southern Blue vol. 2)"

I know that Wynton Marsalis is a polarizing figure in modern jazz. But honestly, whether or not you like his music, just about anybody would have to admit that he has the most gorgeous sound of any trumpeter, ever. And he never fails to put together a fabulous group of musicians. Marcus Roberts (piano), Reginald Veal (bass), Herlin Riley (drums) and Todd Williams (soprano and tenor sax) on this one.

This is good, but I much prefer "Live at Luther College" (only out on cd, not Blu-ray).

TVYankee is the one who turned me onto this recording...at Occam's rave, he had a disk before it was released. Recording quality is superb (48khz/24bit PCM or TrueHD). I am not a huge DM fan, only recently got into them, my wife is a fan. The radio stuff got old fast.

I've been listening to this one for a couple weeks now. It's very different for them. It's kind of spooky, a little heavier and light on the DJ. I think like it.
