tnewel, all you hipsters. Anybody know where I can hear samples of Antonio Forcione? Not on amazon or Cd uni. Help.
(later) I've discovered that an exceptional record by Carmen MacRae has become available on CD. It's an import an it's expensive. Damn. I owned this record in the 60's and remember it as the finest example of her singing, then and now (altho her Billie Holiday covers on Columbia is also a great album). Her trio is way fine, too, as memory serves. Live at Sugar Hill. This small club was across the street from The Jazz Workshop in San Francisco. The lady sat right behind me once during a stay there at one of Cannonball Adderley's gigs at the Workshop. I remember this for another reason, too, Yusef Lateef (who had joined the band by this time) was wearing white sox which was unheard of for a brother to do. I think he was putting on convention. There may have been another reason, of course. I like my version, tho.
