Cheers Gordy. Thanks for the live tip. Great album. Raul Midon has got talent and he writes his own songs. Played it twice in a row which I don't normally do.
When I picked up the CD I didn't know a thing about Raul. I bought the CD because Arif's name was on the back cover. Whenever I see the names of Ertegun(both of them), Wexler, Dowd or Mardin, I know that my mileage will not vary. There is the old saying that past peformance is not indicative of how an investment will do in future. That doesn't apply to these guys. "Giant Steps" "I Never Loved A Man (you all know the rest)" "Dusty In Memphis" "The Shape of Jazz To Come" " Pithecanthropus Erectus" "Genius + Soul = Jazz" - are but a few of the many classics that some or all of them gave life to. Sad to say all things must pass and the list will not go on. Only Jerry Wexler remains with us today, in retirement and last heard to be somewhere in Florida. He will be 90 this year.
PS. If I see a "Jr" after your moniker and if it's a Male Berry and not Miss Halle, then that's another Long Player I'd go for without hesitation.
