Battles "Mirrored"

I discovered this on YouTube of all places.  I had searched for The Fucking Champs videos and these guys also came up on the page.  I dunno what to call it, apparently "Math Rock" is the going term.  Very loopy and rhythmic without sounding like dance\electronic.  A lot of odd, lurching time signatures too.  Mostly instrumental but the vocals on it are all messed up with pitch shifters.  I listened to this for a whole week in my car.

Picked this up for $8 at Virgin over the weekend...a 2006 remaster of this 1976 double album...sounds good...a mostly live recording compiled from their '74-'75 American tour. Kinda too late to crank it up for that "live" you are there vibe.

Debut as a leader, but he has been central to several groups, notably William Parker and Fred Anderson. He got the masterly touch on the drums...plus he plays a variety of percussion instruments from around the world. Out of Chicago, he is a regular at the annual Vision Festival. This is an excellent recording, very clean...plus the musical performance is top notch.
