...ya gotta love the B-52's

She came from Planet Claire
I knew she came from there
She drove a Plymouth Satellite
Faster than the speed of light

Planet Claire has pink air
All the trees are red
No one ever dies there
No one has a head

Some say she's from Mars
Or one of the seven stars
That shine after 3:30 in the morning
WELL SHE ISN'T

...they just don't write lyrics like those anymore

If you are going to live in the past, why not expand your horizons?

The idea for the project came from Playboy Magazine. Richard was asked to submit a list, in late 1999, of the ten greatest songs of the Millenium. He called their bluff and submitted a genuine thousand-year selection. That they failed to print his list among others submitted by rock's luminaries did not deter, but instead spurred Thompson to develop and present an evocative, entertaining repertoire.

This is an absolutely fantastic recording.

I have to admit I have been listening to a lot of covers lately, but this has to be the best of them.

His version of "Oops, I did it again" is classic

If you like the Raconteurs, you should check out Brendan Benson.  He is the main voice in the Rac's.  Together with Jack White (White Stripes) and two dudes from the Greenhornes.  His solo work is in the same vein as the Racs.
