Been listening to some of my older Cd's from the 80's...I remember there was talk around that some older Cd's can develop holes and such in the recording layer...I never encountered anything like that.
However, the following Gil Evans Farewell CD sound like crap...sounds like an FM station that is drifting in and out, breaking up on the higher notes. Could be the recording or who knows...I couldn't see any problems with the naked eye. But the "Bud and Bird" sounds OK.

An excellent recording/release..listed as an "audiophile edition", and I would have to agree, the sound is great, wish all cds were released to this standard. The mastering equipment used AR tube monoblocks for their cutting amplifiers and other top notch equipment. Part of the Analogue Productions Revival Series.
