I know what you mean... His Broadway spirit has never left him.

The thing is there is sooo much talent in everyone involed in his Bat Out of Hell albums they are just amazing. It took me awhile to catch onto the sound and his voice though. Then again my favorite band (The Boss and E Crew) took me a long time to really catch onto because it sounded so funny.

Meatloafs voice has gotten better if you ask me. He does all he did before but more with his own voice than pitching a prefected ideal voice.
