Antonin Dvorak - The Greatest Hits

# Composer: Antonin Dvorak
# Performer: Herbert Krepel, Philippe Entremont, et al.
# Orchestra: Berliner Sinfonie-Orchester, Houston Symphony Orchestra, et al.
# Label: Compendia
# Audio CD (April 13, 1994)

I think the Slavonic dances by Dvorak are simply some of the best pieces of music ever composed or written.  Good recordings of a sampling on Disk 1.

Dvorák, Tchaikovsky, Borodin: Quartets

I'm on a Dvorak kick right now.  I could take or leave the Tchaikovsky and Borodin quartets on this disk, but Dvorak's "American" quartet is beautiful.  Very "Fourth of July."  :-)

Hey!

I don't know or have heard Glen Cambell stuffs. But if there are people out there listening to his music than I don't think you can call him bad. :D

Destroyer, music is a very personal thing. Everyone have his or her own prefernce. So,to me I would say...  listen to what you like, who cares of what other think about your musics.   Oh! yeah and it doesn't hurt to explore new and other type of music too.

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

Hey!

Yup, the Queen of pop newest album.  :D More of disco beat on this I think, not bad. I didn't pay much attention at first when this first came out. But after I've heard it at my friend apartment, I can't seem to get that song out of my head! Hard to believe that she is what? 37 or 38 now?  :o

Oh! I've got this on limited pink vinyl LPs! :P Pretty cool.. look kindna out of place with it neon pink colored LP on my all black Rega Planar 2

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

SETMAN, I've been telling people that this Madonna album is really addictive, it's the discoesque beat for sure.  I got hooked when I heard a club remix of "Hung UP" the bass was fantastic it just beat me into submission, I had t buy the CD.  I got the CD and it just pumps pretty much all the way through. I find it stressed both the top and bottom end.  Took the disc to a friends place who has metal dome tweets and I nearly lost my mind it was so bright. He kicked me out because of the faces I was making   :finger:
Thank you, I'm not the only one.

Hey!

launche, yeah that's the song that got stuck in my head after I've heard it at my friend's  That song is pretty catchy isn't it?

Yup, the bass lines on this album is the key I would say to this album. I don't know how the CD sounds but the pink LPs set I've got sound pretty good. :D

The story about your friend system is funny. Hey! at least you were just making faces and did not stick your fingers in your ears!

Oh! btw. 3 of my friends when to see her concert a week or 2 ago here in NYC and they said that it was good and she still got it. :D

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:

Chris,
I looked on Amazon website and saw a few more CDs by Arild Andersen trio, e.g. like this one:

The album title Achirana, do you or anyone else own it as well? It seemed to receive similar rave review as the "triangle" album.

And by the way, thanks for much for the recommondation on "Bobo Stensen" recording, I follow you link to Amazon and saw quite a number of recordings. Can you also tell me which one is best to listen to?

Thanks
barry

I have a few of the Bobo Stensen cds....but I can't remember which one's.....I'm overloaded here... can't get to them..:?
As for which to buy, all I can say...listen to samples...check the Amazon reviews and allmusic.com. 90+ percent of the time, the reviews are spot on !!!
Another tip....ECM is a very good label....good artists, good recordings...hard to go wrong !!! Really.... :thumb:

Because you said they're good, if they're mono, I will still buy at least one first. If they're stereo I will buy more than one immediately  :green: :green:

Good grooves.  A hint of bossa nova underlying some of the groves.  Well-recorded.  Some nice tight bass.

I have this on CD.  It's a return to form, as I can only really take Madonna's music when it is true to her dance club roots.  This album has that in spades and a good Abba sample to boot.
