No Jim, It was a David Dye/World Cafe interview with 5 or 6 live songs mixed in throughout.  You can listen here  http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5461779   or download a pod cast (and others) from here  http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4724307

In a Chill Out mood as I tidey up a couple of reviews

and finally some Blue Six - Beautiful Tomorrow

Hey SET Man,

I picked up Zero 7's latest The Garden.

I've got to say, I'm pretty disappointed. I really hoped it would be as good as When it Falls. It actually falls well short of Simple Things (quality-wise). Oh well, maybe the one after this will be better.

An Evening with John Petrucci & Jordan Rudess

I have to say, sound quality is up there, audiophile quality, and performance based on the first two tracks is top notch.  Piano and acoustic & electric guitar both of which are quite good sounding and actually not boring.

Donnell Jones - U Know What's Up

I thought the quality of recording of this one is pretty decent compared to a lot of the other albums that I owned.

I like trumpet. How would you rate the quality of this recording? Is the trumpet sound recorded "in-phase" or it's coming out from one speakers only (e.g. like John Coltrane's Love Supreme)?

Thanks... great music, but sigh...I wish they could have recorded it such that the trumpet will appears somewhere between the two speakers, which makes it far more "real".

There is some flow over to the other speaker....but not alot. For a 1961 recording...it sounds good !

Last weekend we did family Karaoke and my sister-in-law picked Beck's "Loser" which she exclaimed she loved when she was in college.

The lyrics came up and the whole family was stunned for about 20 secs and then we all burst out laughing uncontrollably for the rest of the song.  What the hell is he trying to saying, my sister-in-law was a little embarrassed as she practically knew known of the words except the chorus and even that she had half wrong.

So here it goes boys, enjoy:

Loser by Beck

In the time of chimpanzees I was a monkey
Butane in my veins so I'm out to cut the junkie
With the plastic eyeballs, spray paint the vegetables
Dog food stalls with the beefcake pantyhose
Kill the headlights and put it in neutral
Stock car flamin with a loser and the cruise control
Baby's in Reno with the vitamin D
Got a couple of couches sleep on the love seat
Someone keeps sayin I'm insane to complain
About a shotgun wedding and a stain on my shirt
Don't believe everything that you breathe
You get a parking violation and a maggot on your sleeve
So shave your face with some mace in the dark
Savin all your food stamps and burnin' down the trailer park
Yo cut it

Soy un perdedor
I'm a loser baby, so why don't you kill me?
Double-barrel buckshot

Forces of evil in a bozo nightmare
Banned all the music with a phony gas chamber
'Cause one's got a weasel and the other's got a flag
One's got on the pole shove the other in a bag
With the rerun shows and the cocaine nose job
The daytime crap with the folksinger slop
He hung himself with a guitar string
Slap the turkey neck and it's hangin on a pigeon wing
You can't write if you can't relate
Trade the cash for the beef for the body for the hate
And my time is a piece of wax fallin on a termite
Who's chokin on the splinters

Soy un perdedor
I'm a loser baby so why don't you kill me?
Get crazy with the Cheeze Whiz
Soy un perdidor
I'm a loser baby so why don't you kill me?
Drive-by body pierce
Yo bring it on down
Soy

I'm a driver I'm a winner things are gonna change I can feel it
I can't believe you

Sprechen sie Deutches, baby

Know what I'm sayin?

NO, Beck I have NO idea what you're sayin'

Anna's Song

By Marvin Gaye

If anyone else owns this album please remind everyone else just how damn good it is, a classic. My dad had this album when I was a kid and I remember hearing it and just thinking that Marvin and my dad were some cool guys.  revisiting this album as an adult, how can someone sing about such a painful subject and time in their life and make it sound so damn good.  I mean if you weren't paying attention you would swear Marvin was seducing another woman.  For those who don't know the history behind this album, all the more for you to uncover.

I've always thought he was one of the best singers I've heard.  So silky smooth and passionate in an almost effortless way.  I mean the man can almost make Donny Hathaway sound like an american idol contestant.

This album is beautiful and heartbreaking and has so much depth, the type of album you listen to for a lifetime.  This is a must have and please forego your next run of the mill purchase and pick up a remastered version of this album.  In fact every music lover should have a minimum of two Marvin Gaye albums, if you don't have two then what the hell are you wasting your money on

Thanks for the rave & rant.

Yeah, I keep it in my regular rotation because of that as well.
