Dave - After listening to the samples, I tend to agree.  Doesn't quite have the same Pixies feel in this new album, but the 30 second samples may not be representative of the songs.  I would have to listen to the whole album before final judgment.

Uggh... Most of the songs have uninspired playing and very childish lyrics - "You put the cock in coctail" (from Indie Cindy). Really? I don't care how tongue-in-cheek that line was meant to be, just sounds silly coming from this band at this point in time. Makes my collection complete......

Hmm, maybe I won't listen to the full songs.  I want to remember the Pixies as mavericks who have influenced a bunch of other musicians.  Thanks.

Mine came today. I listened to the album on NPR last week. It is OK, but not one of their better albums. First album recorded without Kim Deal. She also didn't have much input into Trompe le Monde which is only slightly better than this album. That is probably the difference.

"Trompe le Monde" wasn't great, but I consider it very good. "Indie Cindy" sounds to me like stuff they were messing with in the studio that didn't make it to prime-time.  Very disappointed.

Wow, Kim is no longer with the band.  I hadn't heard Trompe either.  There's just too much new music available the past few years, so can't hear everything.  Perhaps that is what I am hearing or missing hearing with this new album.
