Thin Lizzy -
Renegade 1981 ( 2013 Japanese SHM-CD remastered Deluxe Edition )
Frequently referred to as Thin Lizzy`s worst effort. Nah...unless you are among the fans who wanted them to just keep making
Jailbreak over and over. The HTFU effect of being caught up in the NWBHM continues a toughening of the band`s sound which began with the previous Lizzy effort,
Chinatown.
Renegade offers up some really nice guitar work from Scott Gorham and second guitarist Snowy White who would leave the band after this record. Some diverse songwriting here as well, most notably the finger-snappin' Fats Waller tribute
Fats, the swingingest Lizzy tune since
Dancing In The Moonlight.
Like all the Thin Lizzy albums which were part of the most recent remastering effort, the SQ of this re-issue is absolutely exemplary. I have SACD's which don't approach these in that respect. The mini-LP packaging of the Japanese versions will put a smile on your face. Really well-done and a delight to listen to on a good system.
