I saw the Ramones at Hammerjacks (Baltimore) back in the late 80's. The show was so loud that I took two cigarette butts out of an ashtray and put them in my ears to protect my hearing. True story.
i saw the ramones at the wax museum in dc in the mid 80's; it also was loud, but only because i was standing almost directly in front of one bank of speakers, a few feet from the stage. that was a great show. but it was scary - a week after the show, i was hanging w/the friends i went to see the show with; i told them all - stick your finger in your left ear, and tell me what you hear. they were all mortified that we could still hear ringing. i think that is the worst damage i have ever done to myself, regarding hearing...
