Ho-  Didn't even know Curtis Fuller had a date of his own.  Will definitely give this a listen.  Keep em coming.

Hi Jim. Bluesette that Satfrat posted is one of the best known dates that was headed by Fuller. Youtube has some videos of the man in action. There's a set from the 1993 Mt Fuji Japanese jazz fest that plays for over 8 minutes which features Fuller doing Five Spot After Dark with Benny Golson, Ron Carter, Mulgrew Miller, Terumasa Hino and Billy Higgins.

I'm in a Steely Dan state of mind so I've got Victor Feldman's Merry Olde Soul spinning on the CD transport. Feldman played on practically every MCA Dan outing from Can't Buy A Thrill right up to the Gaucho amigo. But this one that I'm listening to is straight out Riverside with Hank Jones, Sam Jones and Louis Hayes. Recorded  December 1960 and January 1961. Orrin Keepnews was the producer. Feldman's a dead ringer for De Niro on the cover.

Victor Feldman: Suite Sixteen (1955)

Here's my favorite (cuz it's my only) album of Victor's, a very good recording considering the date. If he had only a few more pounds on him, he'd be a Tony Soprano wantabee.

Pat Martino: Stone Blue (1998)

http://www.artistdirect.com/nad/store/artist/album/0,,359152,00.html (samples)

Remarkable jazz guitarist who in 1980 had brain surgury to correct an aneurysm but in doing so completely lost his memory and had to relearn how to play guitar from listening to his own albums. From this 1998 album, he learned well. :thumb:
