Where do you guys find your music? I have no idea how to even venture to find the stuff you do!

I get most of my music from the following places;
BMG/yourmusic website
Amazon
indiejazz
clearance bin at Virgin and Tower. Tower in NYC recently closed their used outlet, so I rarely ever go there anymore. I rarely ever pay their inflated 'retail' price.
DMG. unless you are in NYC you wouldn't know this place, lots of indie stuff including new vinyl releases at fair prices.
Discorama...buy new releases here, much better prices than the big stores.
At concerts, usually the smaller venues have some cds for sale. Flea markets...record fairs(sometimes get new cds for a buck or two).
When I am in Los Angeles, I frequent Second Spin in Sherman Oaks.
And the best bargins are ...when people decide to throw out their record collection as they switch to ipod/digital/stat, I just pick them up off the sidewalks, providing I am lucky enough to be walking by of course.

Amazing solo acoustic guitar.  Tommy Emmanuel will be playing in NYC in a couple of weeks.  Check tour dates here:

I get most of my CD's from the garbage room of my NYC apartment building. Apparently, a reviewer or industry insider lives here and I regularly find bags of 50 or so, many sealed, all genres. When that happens, I get to expand my ears for a week!

When it comes to finding some of the stuff I listen to, a big chunk of it came from my parents. From there I started digging into similar artists of the time via vinyl usually picked up at fleamarkets and yard sales.

When it comes to the newer stuff I've found a ton of stuff listening to streaming radio. I makes notes on teh artist and song then I surf over to Amazon and take in a few samples. If I like the rest of the album, I add it to my wish list and eventually buy it. I also use the "If you liked that artist, try this artist." feature that Amazon has. I can spend hours on end listening to samples and finding new artists.

Another way I find new artists is by watching movies. When I hear a great song as part of a soundtrack, I make a note about the lyrics then when the credits roll up a scroll trough the artists and find out who did the song, again with Amazons help.

Another way is my fellow GAS members. This crew has one heck of an eclectic taste in music.

Oh, the Saturday Early show on CBS sometimes has decent, more obscure artists playing what they call the Second Cup Cafe. Such is the case with who I'm listening to right now......... (great segue, aye?)

Shine from the Pat McGee Band had a few songs that got some airplay but I never knew who the artist was until I saw them perform on the Early Show.

Now THIS is some good stuff

If you haven't heard Amos, drop what you are doing and surf into Amazon and check out these samples.
