An excellent recording by this Berlin-based guitarist/composer. The natural acoustics of the recording venue(a church) adds subtle nuances and ambiance not always available in a studio setting.
This is Takeshi first solo album...done in one day.

Mj, I thought it was Diedre Murray on 8 Bold Souls, but it isn’t.  Her name is Naomi Millender.  I’ve never heard of any of the players on this but every single one of them (eight) can play!!   If the leader’s arrangements remind me of anyone- his name is Edward Wilkerson- it’s the Gil Evan’s Orchestra live, in the club.  The Bold Souls are from Chicago.  Turning it up helps as it is a little dark and distant.
Interesting...I found this tit-bit on the group/album at 'artistdirect'...

8 Bold Souls.  I already know their music.  What that cat wrote about fidelity to their sound on this recording has me excited.  I'm buying it.  Thanks, mojo.

Querencia- Mayte Martin (Virgin).  The liner notes are in spanish so I can't tell you how a light haired girl with the last name of Martin came to be a fine flamenco singer.  Two guitars, palmas, a violin and an acoustic bass on a couple of tracks.  Traditional stuff, tho, not to worry.  She digs deep.

I don't know how to post the album art but I am listening to Jackson Browne "Solo Accoustic Volumes I and II.  They are both excellent and Jackson has maintained his great voice over the years.

Chris:

Thank you for posting the Album Art!  I really like both albums but I think the recording quality of Vol II may be just a little better.

Kate and Anna McGarrigle- self titled (Warner Brothers).  I must not have listened to this in four or five years.  I loved it then and I love even more now.  If it was between this album and Free For All as to which one goes to heaven with me . . it's this one.  But maybe I could take Free For All on that 2004 re-release CD, huh?

Seriously, this is a great piece of work across the board.  Sung by angels
