Very Nice Had never even thought to look for any solo work by him. I've got a couple of Jim Capaldi's solos. Thanks for the memory jog.
Hey AD,I've been on a 60's and 70's rock, jazz, and blues kick going on 10 years now. I pretty much missed it all since my teenage years were in the 80's. I first heard an entire Traffic record (Low Spark...) probably around 2006 or so and though I'd give Chris Wood a try when I spotted it.
Savoy Brown: Blue Matter '69Evening EarPal - imo you picked a winner there. A copy is sitting in my cart this very minute. Will see if anything else nudges me to the must have NOW ledge this evening. Was lucky, got to see Traffic twice, once with & once after Chris's passing. Great shows both.
Those Traffic shows must of been a blast. Wonder if there will be any reunion with surviving members of band (or is Winwood the only guy left?). I've been in a slump with cd/record buying lately so I'm starting a list for stuff to buy. Noticed you posted Savoy Brown. I have their Raw Sienna. Can you recommend a second purchase for me?
Bloomfield-Kooper-Stills: Super Session '68EP - they were. First was with Fairport Convention opening, Traffic was on tour for the release of When The Eagle Flies. Yes, Steve is the only founding member left, Jim Capaldi passed in '05. As to Savoy Brown, tricky question. Raw Sienna & Blue Matter are probably my favorites, but most all of their work is good. I'd recommend sampling A Step Further On, Getting To The Point, & Blue Matter if you like the sound of Raw Sienna. As with lots of groups the sound changes with time, some for better or worse, some just different but as good. In that vein you might sample Looking In, and Hellbound Train. Looking In was, to me, a sound transition in their music, but it's always been in my library. Both vinyl & CD. Hellbound Train is right up there quality-wise, but a tad short time-wise even for back in the day. If you like British blues you can't go too far wrong with Savoy. Happy listening.
