Alex de Grassi on guitar, Michael Manring on bass and Christopher Garcia on tabla, kanjira, mbwata and other percussion instruments.
Quote
Two innovators of solo instrumental music, acoustic guitarist Alex de Grassi and electric bassist Michael Manring, join forces with percussionist and tabla player Chris Garcia (of the Zappa alum group, The Grandmothers) for a set of arranged and improvised music. With influences from India to Appalachia to Latin America and the Blues, this trio fuses new sounds together with their original compositions and unlikely arrangements - think the Stones' Paint It Black in 7/8 time, and an improvised take on the traditional folk melody, The Water is Wide. De Grassi's sympitar (sympathetic string guitar) and Manring's liquid and ever-changing fretless sounds combine with tabla, kanjira, mbwata, and a myriad of percussion to produce a distinctly world twist to many of the tracks

Hey!

Yup, I am listening to Operas on my system!

I picked up this CDs set awhile back at Virgin just because I thought it might be nice to know a few things about classical opera music and do listen to it sometime. :D

And this CDs set fron NAXOS did not disappointed me at all. Full of great famous opera tracks and the booklet is excellent, very educational in a way. :D A few of my favorites tracks are Verdi's  Rigoletto - La donna e mobile, Puccini's Gianni Schicchi - O mio babbino caro, Delibes' Lakme -  Dome epais (Flower Duet) and Bizt's Carmen - Habanera. :D

And the good part is that the set is cheap! Only $10 at Amzon.com

http://www.amazon.com/Z-Opera-762-page-booklet/dp/B00004YYRR/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1195096134&sr=8-1

I might have to pick up their  "A -  Z of Classical Music" also

Oh! yeah... the sound is pretty good too! Damn! My system do sound pretty good on classical operas too!  8)

Take care,
Buddy :thumb:
