Hey...how is it way out West? Seen the 'burning' bush?

This is a very unusual soul/blues singer/composer. His lyrics can be brilliant or just totally gutter...real old school. Been around since the late 60's. Not recommended for the easily offended and or politically correct.
I saw him perform way back in the early 70's, I was still in high school...

Big Smith - self titled debut recorded by Lou Whitney in Springfield, MO. Wilco recorded part of Being There in his studio, old analog gear so the recordings have this really natural, rich sound. Big Smith is all acoustic on this disk too, Mark is playing his grandpa's 1948 Martin. Stripped down, ozark-gospel-bluegrass. Great band, awesome disc

Herbie stepping way outside the box...fusion when it was fresh and limitless.

Paul Motian seems to very prolific with his recording output the last couple years...such a smooth liquid sound on his kit, just effortless. With Bill Frisell on strings and Joe Lovano on tenor sax.
