Thin Lizzy -
Renegade 1981 ( 2012 Japanese SHM-CD re-issue )
This album gets a lot of stick from people but it's got a lot of solid material on it. Buffeted first by punk ( Phil Lynott was a fan of punk - the reverse not so much... ), then by heroin, then by NWOBHM, the Lizzies were in disarray at this point...they would part ways with ex-Pink Floyd touring guitarist Snowy White, load up on firepower by replacing him with ex-Tyger of Pan Tang John Sykes and go full-on metal for their next ( and final ) album. This pretty much confounded fans and detractors alike, but I'm sure it seemed like a good idea at the time...
As I had noted in an earlier posting, the Japanese SHM-CD re-issues of the Thin Lizzy catalogue are far and away the best-sounding versions of these albums I have ever heard. Worth it.
