Listened to the three official bootlegs by Dream Theater that I just got.

This one is two discs, the first is the entire DSOTM album covered live.  A stellar performance!  The second disc is a collection of Floyd songs that DT did live in tour, its called "A Saucer Full of Floyd".  The performance is mind boggling considering it is live.  These guys are serious musicians.

I think these guys do a better live performance of this album than Metallica themselves, except for maybe Labrie's voice which isn't the best for this music IMO.

next up..

This is what Labrie voice is better at doing.  This is right up their alley and another amazing performance.  I imagine DT is something great to see live.

A CIMP (Creative Improvised Music Projects) release.
Quote
CIMP is dedicated to documenting a broad range of creative improvised music in audiophile sound.
CIMP records are produced to provide music that rewards repeated and in-depth listenings. These records are not intended to be background music.
There is no compression, homogenization, eq-ing, post-recording splicing, mixing, or electronic fiddling with CIMP performances.

And I heartily agree...Listened to this cd about 4 times throughout the day...one time with the volume almost maxed out...a truly natural sounding recording, no hint of listening fatigue, its like being there when it was recorded.
Highly recommended. As are the entire CIMP catalog.

Now this is an undisputed masterpiece (1970) that many may have not have heard yet, so its like the movie High Fidelity when Jack Black says something to the effect  "You don't have Blond on Blond or Sargent Pepper my God quick take these but never tell anyone you just got em" :D  seriously this is a seminal lp that most famous rock critics would say should be a staple in any serious collection.

Its a long way from white bread rock and roll and definitely marches to its own drummer.  Hell the drummer's head was shaved in the sixties long long before it was cool  :rotflmao: :rotflmao: :rotflmao:
