Just curious...what's the best version of this to get? I had the original CD release and the first US remaster back in the 80s, and really didn't like the way the remaster was done. There have been a few releases since then and I'm curious to know which sounds best...

I heard them on NPR and that Tweedy plays on it so I thought I would check it out. GREAT ALBUM!!!! I think I am gonna have to check out his others..

Hey Phil!
I have to admit, although the version I've been listening to is from '96 remaster I believe, I'm not all that impressed with it myself, and remember thinking that on the day I brought it home. Not even close to the dynamics of my old vinyl the ex left with. Even that vinyl recorded on 8-track was better.

(in my mind's ears..)
I was ripping mine for my Squeezebox and had to stop and listen again. Hoping coming thru the SB will be better than my cd/dac combo.
If you find a GOOD remaster, puh-lease, let me know! Its a grand old favorite I liked better than Tommy.

For these old recordings, it's better to just get the original UK vinyl pressing, which suggests that you need a turntable, Phil

I "tuned" my Squeezebox into some strange German 'darkwave' station last week and a song from these guys caught my ear amidst all the otherwise boring electronic stuff. It was just piano and drums. Their video showing a slamming cover of "War Pigs" totally sold me. Great album, cool videos..and check this out, actual dynamics!
