Gift to myself - New speakers

These are my new speakers and they are in the audiocheapskate tradition...they're a kit from Madisound called the "Recession Buster Reference" with a custom enclosure built by a master craftsman friend. Here is a link to more info:

The tweeter is an SB Acoustics silk concentric ring dome driver and the woofer is a 5.5 inch slit paper Scan-Speak Revelator driver. I have been breaking them in for approximately 50 hours now. AWESOME sounding! The KEFs are officially dethroned. For more pix see my Gallery.

She has nice big eyes, and a pretty good voice.   :eyebrows:

On further listening, I am often reminded of Alanis Morissette...

I took my system down today to install a PS Audio Soloist Premier outlet. I took the opportunity to clean all connections, etc and I've been enjoying Dire Straits - Dire Straits. Both the original pressing and the new 180g reissue that was pressed at Pallus and master by Bernie Grundman from the original analog tape. The reissue is a little warmer with tighter bass and enormous soundstage. Looks like I'll be getting the other reissues as they come out.

The album bridges the gap between the gritty Doom of the band's earliest recordings with the vibrant catchiness and quirkiness which became the band's trademark. Cathedral were formed by ex-Napalm Death vocalist Lee Dorrian and ex-Acid Reign guitarist Garry Jennings. Features a guest appearance by Black Sabbath's Tony Iommi on 'Utopian Blaster'.
