Swiss jazz combo. Nice touch of funk mixed in with their  contemporary jazz. Reminds me a little of Flora Purim with Return to Forever, back in the day.
Nils Wogram - trombone, composition
Simone Vollenweider - vocals, lyrics
Colin Vallon - rhodes, piano
Wolfgang Zwiauer - electric bass
Kaspar Rast - drums
Tilman Ehrhorn - electronics
Quote
'Lush'  that's the name of the new project around the trombonist Nils Wogram, who counts among one of the most important representatives of the young, European jazz scene. The ensemble focuses on the warm accord of song with acoustic and analog-electronic instruments. ..

I feel like I am up with the chickens

Me too, so it must be time for some morning maniac music

Gotta have this.  Just ordered.

It is very good. The Airplane were on thier game that morning. Plus, you get the Volunteers CD as part of the 2 CD set.
On their game is precisely the reason I ordered, Madam Rocker.  I saw and heard (on my two ways for the tele) a couple tunes on some video and it drew me in like a fly in a tornado.  The goings on of the guitar players was positively kinetic.  Wasn't the well known video of WS, don't know what it was, but I know this CD is that by a thing or two Grace says.  Thanks for pullin my chain.  Things are gonna be gloriously rockin round here real soon.

Here's a tip I got from my most far away customer (Capetown).  He is an encyclopedia of female jazz singer recordings and he enthused to me bout this and now I can enthuse to you guys (and dames) . . May I Come In- Gail Pettis (OA2 Records).  She looks like she's still wet behind the ears from the cover but, damn, she sings with lovely maturity and voice and her song selection is superb.  And so is the recording.  Very closed miked- so much so you may prefer to listen at lower levels than normal- but without any overemphasis or stress.  Berry, berry good work from Seattle.  Enjoy.

Sat, my daughter bought me Albert Collin's Live from Austin, Texas DVD for my birthday this month.  Haven't watched it yet but be sure I will.  Derek O'Brien is with him on this.  That white boy can smoke, too!  Oh yeah.

Italian-born multi-instrumentalist and architect, Nicola Ratti, presents his debut for Anticipate, adding a new layer to the label, while fitting in perfectly with previous releases. Nicola's music can best be described as warm, subtractive rock, whereby he reduces guitar figures and piano passages into quiet explorations of the hidden corners of an otherwise familiar sound

Nice...recorded over two days at the end of August '96.
Quote
Chris Potter on tenor and soprano saxes and bass clarinet joins John Stubblefield on saxes, Mark Feldman on violin, and the remarkable rhythm section of David Fuczynski, guitar; David Kikoski, piano and Santi Debriano, bass. The ensemble concept works from an acoustic foundation, with violin, reeds and guitar layering on timbral and textural range. What Hart seeks, and finds, in his bandmates is that ability to shift gears, to move from inside to outside, to follow his rhythmic cues from the realm of dense, atmospheric arrangements into more direct renderings of the blues sensibility. Hart's inherent lyricism holds it all together, interacting freely with the beat without ever losing the swing factor. This is truly a band worth hearing.

Billy Hart, oceans of time

And before...

The veteran trumpeter...with strings. 50/50
Quote
Other People takes that concept to its logical conclusion, with Wheeler writing new music for the Wolf String Quartet. Taylor guests on a number of tracks and, while Wheeler's distinctive horn can be heard on all but two pieces, this is an album focusing more on composition than improvisation...
