Kansas - Vinyl Confessions

I really like this version of Kansas. I'm certainly a huge fan of Steve Walsh, but thought the band sounded pretty tired by the time Audio-Visions came about. John Elefante was a huge shot of adrenaline and reinvigorated the band. I think this was Phil Ehart's shining moment. His playing on "Fair Exchange" and "Play On" is fantastic. His drumming is spotlighted on every song. Good songwriting, great performances. I love it. Probably my favorite Kansas album. "Drastic Measures" is almost there, but the songwriting wasn't quite as good as this.

Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of Hell

*** Guilty Pleasure Alert ***

I love Todd Rundgren's guitar playing on the opening track, and the rest of the album aint' table scraps. This is a great "over the top" parody of Bruce Springsteens' "Born to Run" that accidentaly became a hit (so saith Todd himself). Wonderful stuff. Good God that opening track is AWESOME!!!
