Yep, New Order is always a good call. Such 80s synth pop industrial sound that still somehow worked.

This is one of those record sleeves that speaks for itself if you know it, you’ll recognise it instantly. As far as I recall, it remains the best-selling 12” single of all time. For those of us who grew up in the 80s, the floppy disk design is unforgettable.

Interestingly, the band actually lost money on every copy sold, since the sleeve was so elaborate and expensive to produce.

The coloured bars along the edge aren’t random decoration either they form a code. If you know how to read it, it reveals the catalogue number and the track title. I’ve photographed it the right way up, so you should read it from left to right.

That took me a minute because I never owned the 12" single. Cool design. Ironic that they lost money on something that sold like hotcakes!

That's pretty cool. There were a couple of bands that did something like that in the early 2000's where if you decoded it properly you could get demos or songs that didn't make it to the album from a "secret" website. Neat stuff. Sadly, I lost interest in vinyl after my last military overseas move. Not one of my albums survived and they only gave me $1 a piece for them. Been digital ever since!
