Does the volume get controlled by my pre/pro?

Yes. The P-8 input 3 volume get "stucked" at 0 db

Also, will I lose bass management with my subs in two channel playback

You can connect the 2nd output of P-8 to your subs.

Does this mean that 0dB in any input (in my IA-7, for example) is equivalent to bypassing the preamp altogether? This would be a nice way to use just the stereo power amp portion of the integrated for comparison purposes ....

We are trying to have P9 before Christmas.....

Another vote for keeping the HT Passthru. (It is very important for me.)

Also can you please advise whether P9 will have Balanced XLR inputs and outputs ?

not a nuforce owner but think that taking the ht bypass off the p8 would be insanity.

the main reason im looking at the p8 is because bryston don't offer me the option in any model other than the bp16, which seems a little excessive for what im after.

a bp6 with ht bypass option would be a killer unit :(

P-8 has no HT bypass by default but can be configured at the factory.
You need to specifically tell us when you order P-8 with HT bypass option.

Now im confused ....

"Audio inputs: 2 sets of RCA inputs, 1 set of Home Theater pass-through RCAs, and a 3.5mm stereo input jack (for digital media player, PC sound devices)"

P-9 R&D has been completed.  We are working on production issues.
Our current estimate for P-9 release is end of August.

P-9 will be twice the size of P-8 (17" wide chassis, same depth and height as P-8) to accommodate more inputs and outputs.  Wait another month for us to confirm the spec.

Yes, we'll work out a very good upgrade plan. Stay tune.

Nuforce is great with support, this is true.

But Nuforce is extremely confusing with their marketing and product literature.  I just bought the P-8 expecting a passthrough on input 3.  Why? Because it says so on Nuforce's website in the P-8 product detail page, and on many other websites of dealers that sell the P-8 today.  I make lots of purchasing decisions based on online information. It is vital that it is correct and up to date.

Second, nowhere is the "bass extension option" explained for the Ref 9.02's.   My dealer offered it so naturally it sounded like a great option, to just get better bass for my 2-channel purchase.   But only to learn that this s a no-no to get this option for a simple 2-channel hifi setup.  According to a Nuforce thread buried deep, the bass extension option is ONLY for amps that are powering a sub.

Am I correct with everything here?  If so, does this mean I have to return all of my Nuforce gear to get it all reconfigured?

I'm surprised to learn here that there is a bass option for the ref. 9SE...
Never seen this option on the website.
Jason could you tell me more about it (I own 4 x Ref. 9SE for bi-amp)

The information posted on the website for P-8 about HT pass-through is a mistake.
P-8 is a relatively new product and base on request from most dealers, the HT pass-through feature has been offered as an option to be configure when you order it.
Sorry about the trouble. Please contact support@nuforce.com to request for an RMA number and we'll gladly pay for your shipping both ways (tell support that Jason said so :)).

The so called bass extension for Ref 9 (not the SE) created too much confusion and we decided that the feature will no longer be available.

There is no bass extension for Ref 9SE.

i think the pass through is a major plus for this unit :(

there are not many good 2ch stereo preamps with this feature.

What's cool as hell about this, is seeing the Nuforce website already updated first thing this morning, with the correct specs on the P-8, for the clarity of all future Nuforce customers.  Great responsiveness Nuforce!

(Now, how to determine if my recently received Ref 9.02s were built before or after Nuforce decided to stop doing the bass-ext. ...let's see what support@nuforce comes up with...)

Thanks Jason!

Nuforce previously had an Wima cap upgrade as an option to permit lower frequency extension.

Just to close out my case here on the bass extension ordeal.  Casey clarified it for me, and I felt the response would be helpful for all Nuforcer's, especially for the Ref 9's.

All is well now, thanks to the outstanding responsiveness of both the Nuforce team and my dealer, Mike Garner (Tweek Geek).
