Foobar under iTunes!

iTunes Multi-Plugin at http://www.aqua-soft.org/board/showthread.php?t=29035

I just wished it would play FLAC under iTunes.

Foobar2000 passthrough:
Using this option will make iTunes play sound through the Foobar2000 engine.
You must have Foobar2000 0.8.3 or later for it to work.
This feature improves the sound quality, but it has several limitations:
1. Foobar2000 will not run simultaneously with iTunes when this option is enabled.
2. All the iTunes sound processing features will do nothing as long as this option is enabled.
You may include |No Foobar2000| in the Comments tag of a track to force it to play using the default engine.
This way it's possible to play tracks from the Music Store while Foobar2000 passthrough is enabled.

Don't stop playing when iTunes is being closed:
By default, closing iTunes stops the current track from playing.
With Foobar2000 passthrough enabled, you may change this behavior.
Note that only one track will continue playing - not the whole playlist.

I found a nice plug-in for iTunes that allows it to play Ogg files which is also supported by Foobar2000. So with the combo you can play Ogg through iTunes with Foobar.
Apparently some are working on a plug-in component that will allow iTunes to play FLAC but don’t hold you breathe too long.

Xiph QuickTime Components (XiphQT) is, in short, the solution for Mac and Windows users who want to use Xiph formats in any QuickTime-based application, e.g. playing Ogg Vorbis in iTunes.

This is a nice and simple drag and drop application for Windows that converts any file to Ogg. I tried it and iut works nicely, it’s a two file program. No install and no overhead. There are two, one is optimized for the Intel P4 and its VERY fast!

I have no experience with Ogg. I though it was a lossless format but its doesn’t appear to be. Its maximum bitrate is 500kbps.

Jamie Cullum’s, Catching Tales (2005) is
610MB as Waves
398MB as FLAC
206MB as Ogg (maximum quality)
108MB MP3 (maximum quality)
